Capability sheet · July 2026

Controlled Toolstore

A custody and assurance platform for industrial sites. It tracks anything in and out against a person and a job — and, where an item must be inspected or calibrated, it physically prevents an out-of-date item from being issued before it leaves the store, with a complete certificate trail behind every transaction.

What it is

Three layers, defined by capability.

The platform

Custody

Issue and return recorded against a person and a job, at the moment it happens. Usage and job-cost allocation, replenishment on real movement, and offline resilience so the store keeps working when the connection does not.

The module

Inspection & calibration

Every periodic check in one place, with unlimited inspection regimes, a certificate trail, and in-date gating that refuses to release an item that is out of date.

The hardware

Points & access

The terminal and peripherals at the point of issue, and whatever gating the location warrants. Matched to the process the location runs, not to what installs easily.

The boundary

We supply the process and the technology. Your people stay yours.

Sierra Acuity owns and runs the platform and supports it around the clock. Your equipment stays yours, and your people run the store. We track and distribute items, we do not supply them, and we do not supply labour. That boundary is the same one stated in the contract structure and it does not move.

Honest limit

A record cannot stop a hand reaching for it. Where an item must be gated rather than recorded, that is what the hardware layer is for, and the sheet is explicit about which applications need it and which do not.

Where it applies

One platform, many controlled stores.

  • Special tools and consumables — the general case, and usually the first installation.
  • Gas monitor fleets — where an instrument must be in bump test and in calibration to be issued at all.
  • Rigging and lifting equipment — where the certificate trail is the control, and inspection dates decide what may leave.
  • General equipment and assets — anything that has to be tracked to a person, or kept in date.
Getting started

Up and running from the information you already have.

Set-up runs off three things you can already export: product, location and people. From there it is short and iterative — send your data, we propose a layout, we refine it together, then go live and improve it. There is no site visit required to get a price, and the questionnaire is the only thing you need to complete.

The sheet sets out what is included with a terminal and how the three layers are priced relative to one another. No rates are published on this site; every figure is sized from the three drivers and confirmed at a short scoping review.

The next step

We are the experts. Give us some details and we will tell you what we think.

Four steps and no site visit: tell us the requirement, complete the questionnaire, we size it, and you get a price.
