Count accuracy is master data, not hardware.
Weight counting is only ever as good as the unit weights behind it. A part recorded at the wrong unit weight will count wrongly every time, forever, and it will do so quietly. That is why we build the unit-weight master with you before go-live rather than discovering it in the first reconciliation.
On high-count, low-value items — fasteners, fittings, cable ties — weight is the only practical way to hold an accurate on-hand position continuously. Nobody is going to count a bin of washers, and nobody should.
The open shelf has no access gate. Nothing stops a person taking an item; the system records that the level moved. If you need control rather than a record, the format changes and we will say so before you order — an open shelf sold as a control is a control that is not there.
